Stained and yellowed teeth can make you feel self-conscious about your appearance, and keep you from smiling, eating, or even speaking among others. But at Rocky Mountain Dental Co., Dr. Dave can provide you with expert in-office or take-home whitening to restore both your smile and your confidence. Contact us at (719) 544-7672 to schedule an appointment today.
In-office whitening is a type of chemical whitening that’s done at Rocky Mountain Dental Co. using a UV light or laser light to “activate” the chemical whitener.
It takes only a single session to brighten your smile by up to 5 shades or more, so this type of whitening is ideal if you need fast results for a special occasion.
Take-home whitening uses professional-grade chemical whitening agents, along with a set of custom-made trays fitted by Dr. Dave. With take-home whitening, you can treat yourself without leaving the comfort of your own home, and enjoy professional-grade results while spending less time in the dentist’s chair.
You’ll get the same results as in-office whitening, but the treatment will be more gradual. It will be less obvious that you have had your teeth whitened, and some patients prefer this.
If you opt for in-office whitening, you’ll come to Rocky Mountain Dental Co., and your teeth will be cleaned to prepare for whitening. Then, Dr. Dave will coat your gums with a protective gel and use retractors and cotton balls to keep your lips away from your teeth.
Next, he will paint a powerful whitening gel onto your teeth, and it will be activated with a laser or ultraviolet (UV) light. Then, the whitening gel will be rinsed away. This process may be repeated multiple times to achieve your desired level of whitening.
For take-home whitening, you’ll come into our office to have dental impressions and images of your teeth taken by Dr. Dave. Then, he’ll send these to a dental lab, which will make a set of custom-built whitening trays fitted perfectly to your teeth.
You’ll come back to our office in a few weeks to pick up your trays from Dr. Dave, and you’ll also get a set of instructions and whitening products. Then, just follow Dr. Dave’s instructions to whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home!
Teeth whitening is a completely non-invasive procedure, so there’s no downtime and there are no special recovery instructions. Just continue to brush and floss normally, and see Dr. Dave for regular six-month teeth cleanings. That’s it!
However, your teeth may be slightly sensitive after treatment, so you may want to use a toothpaste like Sensodyne to help minimize sensitivity for a few days after your treatment.
